About

Halloween is just around the corner.  The weather is nice and cool and that usually means that kids are getting excited about trick or treating.  I remember working on my costume for hours and hours to get the right one.  I ended up asking for help from my mom tons of times.  This was always a super fun time and we always got excited.  The thought of trick or treating was the best part of the holiday in some ways.  But this year things are going to be different.  I work for companies that thrive on this time of year and they are suffering.  People are not buying costumes and they are also not buying up their favorite candy boxes to give out this Halloween.  It certainly is a sad thing to see, but with the COVID-19 pandemic, there is a good reason to think twice about what treat to pick up and possibly give out this year.

What am I talking about with getting the right treat?  Well, the truth is that many people who are trick or treating and their parents won't allow their children to eat anything they cannot clean.  The truth is that many people are paranoid at this moment or just super worried that they may get and spread COVID-19.  That means that you may need to work on getting treats that their family can clean. Think about this when you are buying candy boxes and bags to hand out this year.  It is an important thought to consider.  If the treat is not able to be sprayed by a cleaner and safely eaten you need to probably not purchase it.  For several reasons though.

First, you don't want to give any children candy that may be sprayed with a cleaner and that cleaner will get into the packaging.  If the child eats a cleaner because their family or even the kid sprayed it to be safe and ingests those chemicals they may end up getting hurt. To me this matters more than anything.  Kids have been told or seen so many things done that may be correct or not and either way they may still do it.  I have seen kids do things that will kill them and some people are lucky to be alive.  Don't let your gift of a fun Holiday end up being an issue to some parents or children that are not knowledgeable enough to keep their kids or family safe.  Think for them and get treats that are fully wrapped up and preferably in plastic.  I know this sounds unhealthy and also limits what you can buy.  But this allows for people to do dumb things to the treat and still be safe.  I would highly suggest doing this, to keep innocent kids from making mistakes.

The next thing I would suggest is to make sure you are distancing your handing of treats this year.  Rather you think it matters or not, you don't want to ruin a child's time because their family won't let you give them a treat.  It may be awkward or strange, but if you are able to set the candy out and spread it out so individual kids can get it and not touch different piles then you are ahead of the game.  That is the whole idea to be creative and safe this year. I hope these tips helped!
