I have posted the crust before... but the picture was not so good because I used my cell phone instead of our camera! There is a new addition... my homemade sauce recipe which really is way better than store bought and the flavor is incredible!!! Plus it's cheaper or "less expensive"... fact is you save mu-la and get a better product!
Now I don't have a fancy pizza pan... so we just bust out a good 'ol cookie sheet! Works great!
*Ready to eat*
*Sprinkle on parmasen and oregano... gives it extra flavor... do this before adding additional toppings like pictured below*
*The sauce*

*The crust*
1 package of yeast
1 C warm water
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
2 T oil
2 1/2 C flour
2 T cornmeal (optional for sprinkling on cookie sheet)
Dissolve yeast in warm water (add a couple pinches of sugar to proof it... you will know it's good if you get foam). Let yeast sit about 10 minutes. Stir in remaining ingredients. Beat vigorously 20 strokes. Allow dough to rest 5 minutes in a bowl with saran wrap or a towl over it. Preheat oven to 425, spread dough onto a lightly greased baking sheet sprinkled with corn meal (optional). Bake for 20 minutes.
Homemade Pizza Sauce
1 Can (28 oz) tomato sauce
2 T olive oil
Dash of salt
Dash of pepper
2 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp dried oregano
2 tsp dried basil
Combine everything in a small saucepan and heat on low for about 10 minutes. After spreading on pizza crust, sprinkle parmesan cheese and oregano before adding additional toppings. We top with mozzarella and sometimes add pepperoni... feel free to add your favorite... ham and pineapple... veggies etc.

Looks yummy! I have a favorite recipe for dough, sauce and sausage that I use. Homemade is the best!
ReplyDeletethat looks soo good. I hate the jarred sauces. I'll have to try this recipe. My kids have been begging to make homemade pizza, but I can't get too excited about some of the recipes I've tried in the past.
ReplyDeleteGreat recipe--can't wait to try it!
